From lush gardens to beautiful backdrops, greenhouse weddings have been gaining popularity in recent years. Not only can they accommodate both small and large weddings, they’re also a great venue for the colder winter months. Here are a few of the best locales for a greenhouse wedding in Michigan.
Michigan State Horticulture Gardens
Hidden within Michigan State University is one of the most romantic venues for a greenhouse wedding. The Horticulture Gardens are full of blooming flowers and fresh foliage to create the perfect backdrop for your special day. The venue is large enough to hold both your ceremony and reception, along with an experienced staff to help you plan every detail. The greenhouse is also heated so you won’t have to worry about winter weather no matter what time of year you decide to wed.
Belle Isle Conservatory
Located in the heart of Detroit, the Belle Isle Conservatory is home to a beautiful botanical garden, lily pond, and greenhouse on 13 acres of preserved land. There’s a wide variety of venues to choose from within the conservatory including the casino, aquarium and Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory where the greenhouse is located. It can hold up to 150 outdoor guests and 25 inside the greenhouse. Be sure to keep in mind that it’s also only available Wednesdays through Saturdays when choosing a date. You can even choose to hold your engagement photos here if you’d like, along with an on-site photographer for your greenhouse wedding in Michigan.
Enclosed in glass, the Planterra Conservatory is made up of lush gardens, indoor koi ponds, and a dramatic stone archway. It first opened in 2010 and is now available year-round with an event season from September to June. The venue is also family-owned and operated, and now specializes in weddings. Planterra can hold up to 200 guests and offers full services including floral design, food, beverage, and rentals. You’ll also have your choice of cuisine along with an extensive selection of wine and other spirits.
With blooming gardens, a large lawn and stately pines, the Taylor Conservatory is located on the southeast coast of Michigan. Their botanical gardens are available throughout the year while the open-air conservatory is filled with seasonal flowers from May to October. The venue can be used for your wedding ceremony, reception, bridal shower and rehearsal dinners. You’re even able to mix and match wedding sites on the grounds to create your perfect day such as a wedding on the lawn followed by drinks on the terrace.
