Michigan is the only US state with two peninsulas, which also means it’s home to a wide selection of waterfront venues to choose from when it comes to your wedding day. From lakefront ceremonies to a chartered yacht down the Detroit River, here are a few of our favorite wedding venues in Michigan on the water to set the scene for your special day.
Bay Pointe
This award-winning, full-service resort sits along Gun Lake’s shoreline. Bay Pointe features waterfront views of the lake all season long, with a variety of onsite venues to choose from for both your ceremony and reception. They also have an experienced chef and culinary team on staff with traditional and more contemporary menu options – with a focus on “seasonal, locally produced and market-fresh ingredients”.
Waterview Loft
Like its name suggests, Waterview Loft is an event space in Downtown Detroit with gorgeous waterfront views overlooking the Detroit Riverwalk. This is one of our favorite wedding venues in Michigan on the water and makes the perfect backdrop as you say “I do”. Waterview Loft can accommodate up to 250 guests and offers both ceremony and reception packages. You’ll also have your choice of their diverse and sophisticated menu with handcrafted recipes for all your catering needs.
Infinity + Ovation Yacht Charters
You won’t find a more waterfront venue than aboard a yacht! Infinity and Ovation Yacht Charters offer beautiful skyline views along the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair, along with luxurious amenities for your big day. Their charter specialists will work to create the perfect custom wedding package for you which includes everything from open bar service to florals and custom cakes. The charters have also won numerous awards from The Knot, Wedding Wire and local Detroit publications.
The Leelanau School
The Leelanau School is a truly unique wedding venue in that it’s attached to another popular location, The Homestead. Located near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (voted ‘Most Beautiful Place in America’ by Good Morning America), the school is available to rent with 42 acres of woodlands, greenery and a private Lake Michigan beach. The Leelanau School is only able to host weddings from June through August so be sure to check their availability as well!
