how to write Wedding Thank You Cards

Wedding Thank You Card Wording Advice

//  by The Wedding Shoppe

Thank you cards are an important detail of the wedding process. Once your special day has come to an end, it’s time to let your friends and family know how much you appreciate them celebrating you on your wedding day. While writing so many cards may seem overwhelming, here is some of our best advice for wording your wedding thank you cards.

Show Gratitude

The main purpose of a wedding thank you card is to show gratitude to your guests and thank them for both their presence and presents. While the card doesn’t need to be extremely long, be sure to thank them for their time, effort, and money spent attending your wedding.

Make It Personal

change the date cards

While you’ll likely have a long list of wedding thank you cards to write after your big day, it’s important to keep the notes personal as well. We recommend including a specific detail about the gift you received, or even just a quick reference to your relationship with the guest for a special touch.

Include Guests Who Couldn’t Attend

Not only should you send thank you cards to your guests, but also to friends and family who were not able to attend your wedding. No matter the reason for their absence, be sure to send thoughtful cards to those who couldn’t be there – both for those who sent a gift in their absence and those who did not.

Switch It up

Tired of writing “thank you” over and over again? Get creative with your wedding thank you cards by switching up the wording a bit! Here are a few great phrases to easily replace “thank you”:

  • “We really appreciate your gift of ______”
  • “We are both so grateful for the ______”
  • “We’re blown away by your generosity”
  • “We are so thankful for the _____ you gifted us.”
