Winter weddings are so magical and there is no shortage of ideas on how to make your celebration stand out. When it comes to your guests, you’ll want to make sure they are extra comfortable in chilly temperatures. We’re here to help you get those winter wedding details just right.

From heating your ceremony to making your friends and family feel special, we have some winter wedding ideas for guests that will make your wedding experience unforgettable.

1. Cozy Blankets

Make it easy for your guests to get cozy! Putting out baskets and crates filled with neatly rolled blankets in your wedding colors is a cute and useful way to decorate your wedding or reception. Blankets are both cost-effective and versatile, so you can absolutely find throws that match with your color palette. Allowing  your guests to take them home as a keepsake is an added bonus!

When planning for unique winter wedding details, keeping your guests warm is key. Supplying your wedding guests with matching blankets will also make for some adorable photos.

2. Espresso, Coffee, and Hot Cocoa Bar

A warm drink bar is one of the tastiest winter wedding ideas for guests that has ever existed! A warm cappuccino, steaming cup of hot chocolate, or a hot Cup of Joe is an excellent way for guests to keep their hands and their tummies warm.

There are a plethora of choices for warm drinks. From decaf mocha to sugar free hot cocoa, there’s something for everyone. You can even get extra creative by adding toppings like shaved chocolate, marshmallows, whip cream or caramel syrups. Cinnamon, nutmeg, mint, sprinkles, and cream filled wafer cookies are also great options for a winter drink station.

Take it a step further and turn those drinks into hot cocktails! An “Irish Coffee,” is hot, sweet, and creamy for those who like a little extra kick to their drink. A “Hot Toddy” would be a house favorite for those who include karaoke at their reception – perfect for soothing a scratchy throat. With so many different possibilities, a warm drink bar is a must-have winter wedding detail.

3. Outdoor Fire Pit

One thing that everyone loves is a good ol fashioned fire pit. Whether you want to have a wild celebration in the country or an elegant evening at a high-end venue, there are many ways to incorporate fire for both decor and warmth.

Gas table tops with fire glass crystals are extremely safe and beautiful. Fireglass comes in many colors, which is great for matching your wedding colors.

If you want to go big, we encourage you to follow safety protocols or hire professionals to make sure no one gets hurt. It doesn’t have to be a big bonfire either. You could marry both ideas and have small campfires outside where guests can break off into more intimate settings. Using fire as one of your unique winter wedding details is a romantic way to keep your guests warm if the temperature drops.

4. Heat Lamps

Heat lamps are a great option to keep your guests warm when fire pits or a fireplace is unavailable. Tent or greenhouse weddings discourage open flames.  For these wedding venue options,  heat lamps save the day!

Not only are they one of the more practical winter wedding ideas for guests to keep warm, but the low glow will add to the ambiance of your special day. Add personalized neon signs to the decor and you’ll have the ultimate wedding glow.

5. S’mores Dessert Station

Warm marshmallow cream and melted milk chocolate between two graham crackers – what a yummy dessert option that can absolutely be incorporated in winter weddings. Put smiles on faces of the young and old by using a S’mores dessert station at your reception.

S’mores desserts can be made in a variety of ways – cupcakes, cakes, brownies, bars… the list goes on. And depending on how you decide to design your reception, supplying your guests with S’mores kits to use over the table warmers or firepits is such a fun idea! Planning the perfect dessert for your reception can be as fun as this seasonal favorite and will have your wedding guests asking for S’more.
