Must-Have Photos for Winter Weddings

//  by The Wedding Shoppe

Wedding photography is one of the most important considerations for your wedding. Different seasons bring different themes and there are some definite must-have photos for winter weddings. Choose a dress that is beautiful and warm before striking that pose and enjoy our winter wedding photo guide.

What better way to warm up than in the arms of your new partner? This classic shot works well for winter wedding photo ideas. Your new life will be filled with cuddles and snuggles. You might as well start with a memory of your first post-nuptial cuddle, which is why you definitely want the spoon shot as one of your must-have photos for winter weddings.

2. The Golden Hour Shot

Photographers have two favorite times to shoot during the day. Right after sunrise and just before sunset, the golden hour sunlight creates perfect natural lighting. During the winter, the golden hour becomes even more magical as the honey-toned light glistens off the snow.

Make sure to choose a few outdoor locations to shoot golden hour photos. A room with large windows might work, but outdoor shots are guaranteed to turn out amazing when the sun is low in the sky. Another great thing about the golden hour is that it can be combined with other winter wedding photo ideas because the lighting makes any shot even more fantastic.

3. The Dance Shot

When it comes to winter wedding photo ideas that capture some big moment, the first dance is a favorite. Some couples keep it intimate and romantic, while others like to choreograph extravagant dances to their favorite hip hop and pop songs. Since it is a winter wedding, we suggest getting a little funky with “Ice Ice Baby” or a little silly with “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”

This is a time to shine and really show off who you both are as a couple. You might even want to have some matching outfit accessories like hats or big prop candy canes. Whatever you choose, this is your opportunity to capture the moment forever.

4. The Group Shot

Whether day or night, group photos are an absolute necessity! This is the perfect time to show off your bridesmaids’ matching winter colors or the groomsmen in coordinating  bow ties. Be sure to get the bridal party, groomsmen, wedding party, and group shots with family.

The group shot is definitely one of the must-have photos for winter weddings. It’s a wonderful chance to share a few laughs with your loved ones, show your love and appreciation for your wedding party, and capture memories of your special day that will last a lifetime.
