Wedding Welcome Box: What Should You Include?

//  by The Wedding Shoppe

Not only are welcome bags a thoughtful gift for your wedding guests, they’re especially useful for a destination wedding or anyone traveling from out of town. From local finds to festive champagne, here are six of our favorite items to include in your own wedding welcome box.

Custom Tote Bags

Before you begin filling your welcome box, creating a special custom tote bag is a great way to hold everything together. You can include you and your partner’s initials, your wedding date or a photo on the tote. Want something a bit smaller? You can also opt for a stamped paper bag, wooden crate or decorative box depending on your wedding theme.

Welcome Note

Make your wedding welcome box extra special with a handwritten note from you and your partner. You can thank your guests for their attendance and add something personal as well. If your guest list is too long for handwritten notes, you can also print out the cards ahead of time.

Local Finds

Whether your wedding is in your hometown or a destination wedding, try to find some great local gifts for your welcome box. Whether it’s a fun postcard or great beer from a local brewery, it will also help your guests feel more at home when arriving for your wedding.

Sweet Treats

Everyone loves a tasty treat, so be sure to include some sweet goodies in your wedding welcome box as well. Add in some of your favorite candies or chocolates, or even some saltwater taffy. We recommend choosing items that can be easily stored at room temperature to ensure they don’t melt before your guests arrive.

Festive Bubbly

Give your guests something to sip on with some festive champagne. Mini bottles fit best in a welcome box, along with wine bottles or beer. You can also get extra creative and tie the bottles with ribbon or monogram them with your wedding date. Feel free to include bottles of water as well to keep guests hydrated.

Map + Guide

If you’re hosting a weekend-long wedding or heading to a special destination, including a map and local guide can be helpful for guests. For couples who already have an itinerary planned for their wedding weekend, be sure to add that to your welcome box as well so guests can plan accordingly.

In addition to a wedding welcome box, you can also create fun party favors for guests to take home after your ceremony. Check out some of our favorite wedding favors your guests are sure to love!
