Wedding Gown Preservation FAQs

//  by The Wedding Shoppe

While you may only wear your wedding dress for one special day, many brides choose to keep their gown long after their wedding. Preserving your dress helps you hold onto those beautiful memories for years, along with keeping it in perfect condition should you pass it down later in life. Here are a few important questions to consider when opting for wedding gown preservation.

Why should I preserve my wedding gown?

We believe in preserving not only your wedding dress but also the beautiful memories you created while wearing it. Wedding gowns often have intricate designs and can be extremely delicate, which is why preservation is key to keeping it in perfect shape for years to come.

It also allows you to easily pass down your dress to future generations when the time comes for them to walk down the aisle. A timeless dress may last for decades and can hold all of your sentimental memories for your daughter, grandchildren, and more to embrace on their own wedding days.

When should I send in my gown?

We recommend sending in your dress for preservation as soon as possible after your wedding day. When brides wait too long, we often see the stains set into the dress and hinder the cleaning process. Not only can this affect the look of your gown, but it also makes it more difficult for our experts to get your dress looking brand new before preserving it.

What is your wedding gown preservation process?

Once we receive your dress, our gown preservation partners conduct a full cleaning, including any stains. Our experts will meticulously inspect your dress for any remaining spots and complete a second cleaning to ensure it’s as close to perfect as possible. Your dress will then be pressed, busted, and stuffed with acid-free tissue before being placed into a custom-made carrying case. It is also shipped back to you at no additional charge to the destination of your choice.

Can repairs be made before preserving my dress?

We know that mishaps happen – even on your wedding day. If there is any damage to your dress that needs repairing, our team is happy to give you a quote and complete those repairs before beginning the cleaning and preservation process. Please mention any damage to your gown when you bring it to The Wedding Shoppe and we will do our best to make your beautiful dress just like new.

How much does it cost?
