With social gatherings being put on hold due to Covid-19, many couples have also been forced to reschedule their wedding dates. While it may seem tempting at times to simply cancel, many vendors and venues are becoming more flexible with rescheduling. From ‘change the date’ cards to weekday weddings, here’s a guide for rescheduling your wedding so you can still celebrate with family and friends.
Check Your Insurance
If you had wedding insurance before the start of Covid-19, check your plan immediately and consult with your own insurance provider to find out what’s covered before contacting your vendors. Every insurance policy is different, but yours may cover vendor payments, lost funds or any unexpected costs from rescheduling your wedding. If you didn’t already have insurance, you can always look into purchasing it once you’ve set a new date!
Communication is Key
Planning a wedding involves a lot of moving parts including vendors, guests, wedding planners and more. Once you’ve made the decision to reschedule your wedding, be sure to let everyone know as soon as possible so you can start moving forward with new plans. We recommend reviewing your vendor and venue contracts as well to see if they have a policy for rescheduling and any extra fees this may include.
New Announcements
Once you’ve chosen a new date for your wedding, it’s time to let your guests know! Instead of your traditional ‘Save the Date’ cards, you can opt for ‘Change the Date’ cards to let family and friends know about the updated wedding plans. You can even find some more humorous card designs to keep the situation light hearted and have some fun with it. Etsy, VistaPrint, Minted and Paper Source all offer great options for your new ‘Change the Date’ cards.
Weekday Weddings
With such a large number of weddings being rescheduled due to Covid-19, many weekend dates for venues are being booked up much more quickly for the foreseeable future. Weekday weddings have become a trend in recent months because of this, with many couples ditching their Friday and Saturday dates for a weekday. Not only do weekday weddings allow you more availability with venues, they’re also more affordable and still allow your friends and family to come enjoy your special day!
Not sure if you want to postpone your wedding? There are other great options available such as planning a virtual ceremony and live streaming your special day for family and friends!
