Show Your True Colors with an Ombre Wedding Dress

//  by The Wedding Shoppe

This past year has been anything but traditional, and one of our favorite new trends to emerge is ombre wedding gowns. Not only do they allow brides to show off their personality, but they also create a gorgeous and unexpected wedding day look. Here are a few tips and tricks for choosing the perfect ombre wedding dress for your special day.

Choose a Color

From soft hues to bright colors, the ombre can be as subtle or dramatic as you’d like for your wedding day. Choose a color that suits your own personal style, as well as drawing inspiration from the season. For example, blush pink is ideal for a spring ceremony while a darker maroon may be better for a winter wedding. Another important detail to consider is which colors or tones look best on your skin tone.

Where to Look

Whether you’re 100% committed to wearing an ombre wedding dress or just want to try on a few styles to see how they feel, it’s best to start looking several months to a year before your wedding date. While ombre gowns have gained popularity in recent months, there may still be a limited selection to choose from. Starting your search early gives you plenty of time to find the perfect dress without the stress of a time crunch.

Minimal Accessories

To really let your dress shine on your big day, we recommend wearing minimal accessories. Simple jewelry and hair accessories often work best so as not to distract from the main focus of your dress. You can also match the ombre color to your accessories such as light blue bridal shoes or red roses paired with a red ombre gown.

Make Your Own

If you still can’t find the right ombre dress after months of looking, there is always the option to make your own. We recommend trying this out on a less expensive dress first, then finding tutorials walk you through the process. If you don’t feel comfortable with a DIY project, try searching for a local shop or artist in your area who is more experienced with dye for professional results.
