With nothing but a dream, a small savings account, and an unwavering belief in creating something special, Michelle took a leap of faith in 1999 and opened The Wedding Shoppe. Despite having no retail experience, she knew one thing for certain: every bride deserves a magical experience while planning her wedding day.
The early years were focused on curating the perfect collection of bridal accessories, but 2008 marked a transformative moment when we introduced our first collection of wedding dresses. What happened next was extraordinary – our brides began sharing a beautiful truth with us: The Wedding Shoppe was different.
In a world of cookie-cutter bridal experiences, we created a haven where every bride felt truly heard, valued, and celebrated. Our unique collection of gowns, carefully chosen to be distinctive and special, became the catalyst for countless “yes” moments.
Michelle’s vision expanded beyond The Wedding Shoppe’s walls, first leading the Better Bridal Group and then co-founding the National Bridal Retailers Association while serving as president of both influential industry non-profits. After years of dedicated service helping transform the bridal shopping experience across the country, she recently passed the torch to new leadership to focus on new business ventures, expanding The Wedding Shoppe’s impact and continuing to create magical moments for Metro Detroit brides.
Over 25 years later, The Wedding Shoppe has been honored to be part of more than 30,000 love stories, helping brides discover not just their dream dresses and accessories, but moments they’ll cherish forever. At the heart of The Wedding Shoppe’s success story is a remarkable sisterly bond. From the very first day we opened our doors in 1999, Michelle’s sister, Danielle, has been an integral part of our journey as our General Manager. Working side by side has deepened their relationship in ways neither could have imagined.
As our head buyer, she has an exceptional eye for curating the perfect collection of wedding dresses and bridal accessories that make our brides’ dreams come true. But her impact goes far beyond selecting beautiful merchandise—she is the beating heart of our daily operations, a devoted mentor to our team, and the steady force that keeps everything running smoothly.
Her unwavering dedication and willingness to embrace every challenge has helped shape The Wedding Shoppe into the warm, welcoming space it is today. This incredible sister duo has proven that family bonds, combined with shared passion and dedication, can create something truly extraordinary.

A realist with a romantic heart, Haley draws from her own experience as a pandemic bride to help keep every bride focus on what truly matters. What really lights her up during The Wedding Shoppe experience is when it all “clicks” and a bride starts to envision the wedding day, glowing in the dress that feels most true, and feels just right.

For Codi, it’s all about connection—and helping each bride feel something truly magical.

Marina started in the bridal world 12 years ago with no experience and joined The Wedding Shoppe in December 2015. She still gets goosebumps with every “yes” and feels honored to play a small role in such a special moment. Her priority is always making brides and their guests feel comfortable, while helping them understand what makes a dress feel just right. Marina loves building real connections and seeing that unforgettable moment when a bride realizes she’s found the one.

A self-proclaimed girls’ girl, she’s all about creating a laid-back, fun, and collaborative experience that helps each bride feel confident and excited, whether your style is sleek and simple or full-on drama. Rita loves adding personalized touches and using her design knowledge to make each dress feel like yours. “Whether you’re getting married in 2 weeks or 2 years, let’s find the one!”

With over 25 years of experience in some of the top bridal stores throughout East Michigan, Elisa is known for her incredible skill, precision, and eye for detail. Earlier in her career, she designed and created dresses herself, an experience that gives her a deep understanding of bridal construction and customization. We were fortunate to welcome Elisa to The Wedding Shoppe in 2016, where she continues to help brides perfect their dream gown.

Seamstress Van was trained at a French Tailoring School and owned a vibrant garment business in her native country of Vietnam. Upon arriving in the US and marrying her husband, she quickly learned that her knowledge of garment construction and sewing techniques fit perfectly with performing bridal alterations. She worked her way up to Head Seamstress at various bridal stores in Metro Detroit. For over 25 years, she continues every day to make “the bride’s dream come true.” We welcomed her to The Wedding Shoppe in 2019.
ABOUT Bevin C.
Getting her start by making costumes for herself, Bevin’s passion for sewing inspired her to hone her skills through academia. She has earned a BS from Eastern Michigan University and a MFA from Wayne State University for costume design and construction. Joining our team in 2019, Bevin has now been sewing for over 20 years and has worked on costumes for countless theatrical productions. When asked why she likes working at The Wedding Shoppe, Bevin said “A wedding can be the most important production in a person’s life and by working here I always get to take care of the leading lady and make sure every bride feels like a star!”

With over 35 years in the bridal industry, she has dedicated her career to creating beautiful, custom bridal gowns that make each bride feel uniquely special. Having owned a bridal salon for 8 years, she’s developed a keen eye for tailoring dresses that perfectly match a bride’s body and style. Kim’s passion for the bridal world has always been driven by the desire to help brides feel confident, beautiful, and truly themselves on their big day.

Alie started in competitive costume design and absolutely loves the attention to detail that goes into every garment. When she found that bridal apparel requires the same amount of precision, she immediately started to look into being a wedding gown seamstress, and stumbled upon The Wedding Shoppe in 2021. She was blown away with how many amazing reviews TWS had, and knew she wanted to join. As soon as she walked through the doors, Alie knew this was her place and would never want to leave because of the super heavy emphasis on the happiness of both the customers and the employees and it creates a super positive, loving environment.
