Planning a wedding is a lot of work. There are lots of details and events all the way up until the big day. Understandably, it’s easy to forget a few things or make a few mistakes. We would like to give you a little bit of friendly advice to make your wedding day go as smoothly as possible. So we are sharing 5 wedding mistakes everyone still makes in hopes that you won’t make them too!
Announcing your big news on social media before telling your inner circle.
Although the excitement is at an all time high, don’t forget to personally share your engagement and wedding news with your family and close friends… before you update that Facebook status! Telling them in a special way or even just a simple phone call will make all the difference.
Skipping the bridal party gifts and/or wedding favors.
Don’t forget to show your appreciation and gratitude to your bridal party and guests! Most times it’s your bridal party that plans your bridal shower, bachelorette party, bachelor party, etc. so be sure to get them something special for all they have done to make your wedding that much more memorable. It’s also a great idea to purchase or create wedding favors for your guests. There are so many creative ideas out there for bridal gifts and wedding favors! Check out our Pinterest board for wedding favors for some ideas.
Wearing high heels. All. Night. Long.
It’s your wedding day, so wear the most extravagant and glamorous shoes you feel like wearing; just don’t expect to be able to walk comfortably in them for the entire night. Test those babies out before wedding day. And if you still decide to go with the uncomfy pair, just wear them down the aisle and for pictures. Then bring a set of cute flats or smaller heeled shoe to save your sanity (and feet) for the rest of the night. Heck, they make adorable flip flops for brides now too!
Not eating.
You’ve heard of the term “hangry,” right? No one needs a hangry bride on wedding day. We get it. It’s a busy day and there’s a lot going on. But it’s important that you eat. We suggest asking your bridesmaids to bring snacks and waters to share while everyone gets ready. Fruit, nuts, veggies, protein bars, pretzels, etc. Once you get to the reception, you and your groom will be busy visiting with guests and taking pictures. Make sure you make time to eat! If you are serving buffet style, have the maid of honor and/or best man grab you and the groom a plate so that when you finally get to the food, it’s not slim pickins.
Finishing projects on the wedding day.
Please save yourself the stress and finish up projects for your wedding the day before. Better yet, the week before! It’s easier to sort out potential wedding mistakes if you have a little extra time to do so. Be sure to delegate duties to your bridesmaids… and utilize the groomsmen too! And here’s a little piece of truth – if it doesn’t get done, it’s okay. You are getting married. Whether your DIY wedding guest sign didn’t dry in time or the centerpieces didn’t turn out exactly like that Pinterest picture, you are still getting married and it will be the best day ever.
