While the world is slowly opening up to travelers again, many new couples are opting for a domestic honeymoon here in the US to celebrate their love. Whether you and your partner want a more relaxing getaway or a honeymoon full of adventure, there’s a locale for everyone. Fall is also one of the best times of year for a honeymoon with more mild temperatures and beautiful foliage. From the wide-open skies of Montana to the California coast, here are some of our favorite fall honeymoon destinations in the US.
Big Sur, California
Take a romantic road trip up the California coastline with a honeymoon in Big Sur. We recommend starting your drive in Santa Barbara so you can enjoy all of the sights along the way. If you and your partner are looking for a more adventurous honeymoon, you can opt for car camping for some truly beautiful sights. Or stop at one of the many luxury resorts during your drive if you’d like to take a few days to pamper yourself.
Charleston, South Carolina
With its cobblestone streets, waterfront views, and thriving arts scene, Charleston is South Carolina’s oldest city. You’ll also be treated to perfect moderate temperatures and beautiful fall colors. Book a stay at the Belmond Charleston Place and enjoy a relaxing massage after a long wedding weekend. Some of our favorite activities in Charleston include White Point Garden and taking a romantic cruise through Charleston Harbor at sunset.
Key West, Florida
Known for its stunning water and sandy beaches, Key West is one of the most popular destinations for honeymooners across the United States. South Florida has something for every couple, including unforgettable snorkeling, sand bars, kayaking, lounging on the beach, and more. And when you travel for a fall honeymoon, you’ll be missing the stifling hot and humid summer months as well.
Montana
Take your honeymoon west for adventure, wide-open skies, and vast national parks. Montana is also home to luxury ranches that allow you to customize and create the honeymoon of your dreams. Triple Creek Ranch is one of our favorites for a romantic getaway. You can also opt for a hot air balloon excursion at The Ranch at Rock Creek to take in the landscapes. Some of our other must-sees in Montana include Glacier National Park, the various hot springs, and Yellowstone National Park.
Sedona, Arizona
Escape to the desert for your honeymoon this fall. For couples who love being active, Sedona is the perfect place to get outdoors. Enjoy some hiking, mountain biking, or even horseback riding at sunset. Arizona is also home to a variety of national parks including the Grand Canyon, Cathedral Rock, and Devil’s Bridge.
